What is intermittent fasting?

An IF diet is a plan that involves eating only during specific periods of the day. There are several different methods , but they all have one thing in common you will be fasting for 16-18 hours. The most common IF schedule to eat between 12noon to 8 pm. This means you can eat your first meal at noon amd your last meal at 8pm.

Who can be benefitted by IF?

It can help people with hormonal imbalance and metabolic syndrome and help in preventing Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. As IF has shown to improve insulin sensitivity in people with type 2 diabetes by as much as 30%

Do’s

– If you are new to fasting then include lots of vitamin c in your diet this will help you not feel drained .

– The best way to lose weight is by simply following a healthy eating plan that includes lots of fruits , vegetables, lean protein , nuts and whole grains

– Limit your intake of sugar sweetened beverages like soda or juice instead have green tea, black coffee, detox water, lemon water , apple cider vinegar in fasting window

-Include plenty of fibrous food in your diet during intermittent fasting hour

-Pre plan all the meals in advance

 

Don’ts

-Do not increase the intake of calories or decrease it. If you are doing intermittent fasting your body will need the calories to work and you should provide it with amount required

– You also need to prevent binge eating during eating hours. Binge eating will lead to excessive eating and an increase in calories in your body which will be difficult to burn

-Dont over exert your body. Avoid heavy or hiit workout . You have to carry on the daily activities and workout but prevent over-exhaustion.

-Don’t start with heavy meal in eating window always start with salad or smoothie as this will not make you bloated or indigestion due to long hour of fasting.

-Do not skip meal in eating window
